The River Golf Club at Lake Royale
The golf course is in a beautiful setting along the Tar River in Franklin County, NC. The course grasses are native to this area in that we have common bermuda in our fairways and roughs and champion bermuda on our greens. The common and champion bermuda are warm-season grasses that love the heat and humidity that comes with the summers here in North Carolina. They do go dormant in the wintertime but return to a beautiful green putting surface usually in April/May when the ground temps warm to 60/70 degrees. Oh, and beware, the greens can be quite quick when putting.
Front Nine Highlights
With an abundance and variety of trees, elevation changes and water here at the course, the par 3’s especially offer up some spectacular views while playing.
Back Nine Highlights
The same characteristics hold true on the back nine but with one exception that is not seen in this area very much. Hole #10 and #17 share a common green which is a bit unique. The situation here presents itself occasionally that a bad shot could be a good shot but with a really, really long putt.
