The River Golf Club, in association with the Patriot Foundation, invites golfers, veterans, community members and local businesses to take part in a special Veterans Day charity tournament benefiting veterans and military families.
The inaugural Major Joe Balogh Veterans Day Golf Tournament will raise funds for the Patriot Foundation while honoring Major Joe Balogh, a 105-year-old World War II Army Air Corps veteran who flew C-46 Commandos over “the Hump” in the China-Burma-India Theater—one of the most dangerous air routes of the war.
Tournament play will begin at 11:00 a.m.—the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month—linking the event to the armistice that ended World War I and gave rise to the observance now known as Veterans Day.

Registration and Attendance
- $150 per golfer, including breakfast, tournament golf, cart and buffet dinner.
- Register as a complete foursome or individually and be assigned to a team.
- Golf and buffet capacity is limited to 100 players.
- Dinner-only admission is $50 per guest. Limited seating.
- Registration deadline: November 2, 2026, or earlier if capacity is reached.

Dinner and Benefit Auction
Following golf, participants and dinner guests will gather for a buffet dinner, Veterans Day program and benefit auction featuring donated packages, experiences, event passes, sports memorabilia and offerings from local businesses.
Supporting the Patriot Foundation
Net proceeds will benefit the Patriot Foundation, which provides post-secondary educational scholarships for qualifying disabled veterans and the children and spouses of fallen or disabled service members.
